Art Basel, with a side of room service.

Which is pronounced Bahhh-zell, by the way.  Orlando corrected me from saying bay-sil, and i was like OF COURSE, YOU, Oar-lawn-do would say bah-zell. But then i realized that i was the idiot, he's right (per usual) and its a proper-noun-ian place, not an effing 'herb'.  ('herb' by the way is pronounced, most assuredly, with a silent 'H')

So i'm here by myself for now, cruising for entertainment and adventure in South Beach.  The only/last time i was in Miami i was with my best friend 6 years ago and she was lamenting (i was celebrating) her breakup with the wrong guy for her.  The amount of Bostonian men we met was out of control - in a bad way. And she was sad, etc, which made me sad. So i'm excited to see Miami for two nights and only one full day again, kinda like the first time.

Im here for David Bromstad's big unveiling of his art show I, Bromstad.  David's style is like mine (or any artist/designer for that matter) either you are with him or not.  Regardless he is a charmer, he's hilarious and extremely nice and popular.  And sometimes he wears rhinestone encrusted shoes.  and thats funny.

So HGTV has me and Meg Caswell (Design Star season 6) here, in Miami, to celebrate with him and mingle at the party. Yes, i like getting flown around to parties.  Yes, i like staying in suites. Yes, i like HGTV.

So tomorrow is my day to see Art Basel, so if you guys have recommendations, clue a girl in.  The concierge has given me a bunch, but hearing from you guys would be awesome.

Try to get away from South Beach and hit up the Design District/Midtown/Wynwood area. I'm pretty sure you would enjoy that vibe way more. Not sure of any specific events happening there but I know they put up some massive tents in the Midtown area for Art Basel events.

I would suggest staying longer!! Or... at least coming back this way. The growing Miami art scene has a lot to offer. I do hope that you get a chance to visit again. Oh and I would gladly welcome you into my home. If you happen to feel the need to work your design genius in my living room, I suppose I could handle that too. I cannot offer a "suite" persay, but I can offer a guest room and the chance to be woken up at 6am by a 2yr old and 3 month old. I know, sounds like a dream. Bienvenido a Miami. I hope she treats you well.

First time commenting, but I've been following since almost the beginning! My boyfriend will be working at the Lisson stand at Art Basel Miami Beach, so say hi! He is the cute, young one with nerdy glasses! Also, while you are in Miami, try to make it to the NADA art fair at the Deauville Hotel. You're frequently trying to highlight how there is affordable GOOD art out there, you just need to do a little hunting. This is a great place to do that. Fabulous, emerging artists with not-crazy-kooky prices that are totally worth it and very cool. Plus, there's great people watching! If you want to get totally insane one night, perhaps post-Bromstad, I also suggest going to the Le Baron pop up. It is a superfun, boozy good time! Say hello to the beach for me!
