What's more rustic than a stump? indeed. This guy came from Tini (This Is Not Ikea) on Fairfax in LA. i think he was $199 which is the same price as the west elm one
And that drapery? don't get me started. When i first saw the house i knew i wanted to do a chair rail, and i originally thought wallpaper on the top half. But the quote for it was like $2000 then with labor $1000 i realized i couldn't swing it. So instead i got the fabric version of it. It's Osborne and Little, Nina Campbell, Silvana collection, and called 'Swan Lake'. Here's the link
I really love it.

I love that is traditional and romantic, but the color palette makes it modern and current. (it's not burgandy and brown...although i know that burgandy is coming back with a vengeance right now)
All in all they cost $1300 (with our discount) plus getting them sewn. A pretty penny.

That print is from 20x200 it's a cool L.A. map thing. It's awesome.

That tv shelving thing was from the flea market, $80 and is faux bamboo metal. I'm a big shelving unit fan in general, but they can be expensive and very store display. But this one is cool, and i know what i did was weird, but i'm into it. And that lamp in the corner is CB2, and the sofa is from the Sofa Company which is kinda a secret source of mine. Why? well, let me tell you. I only need to give them a 3 week lead time to get anything custom done. They have a ton of ugly stuff, but some of the shapes are good and just need nice fabric. They are normally around $1000 and i can pay an extra $75 to get them stain resistant treated. I love the color of this one, its that mauvey gray that i've been obsessed with for a while.

Everytime you post about the Sofa Company, I remember quickly that it's where we are definitely getting our next one. Such a deal!
I love this look, and the shelf unit was really surprising but definitely works in that room. Such a great mix of feminine and masculine, traditional and modern...just a really good room.
love this look too!
I finally saw the episode last night and it was great. I agree that you handled it very well and it made the show more interesting as well. Someone has to disagree at some point right? But at the same time they didn't seem rude or anything, which is nice for you.
Love the covers for the drapery rods, so awesome! Also love the faux bamboo shelf idea, love your creativity!
Beautiful, with so many cool ideas for us viewers.
I absolutely LOVE the valances and chair rail and the tree stump table and....EVERYTHING. But most of all the bar. Where oh where did you get that?!?! I want. I need.
i dunno em, but this might be one of my favorites!! the colors + the rich wood are SO doing it for me! and that nina campbell is definitely a fave! the next time one of my seattle clients asks for something natural and northwesty, I'm busting out those valances!
Those vintage chairs are amazing. I have to admit, I miss flea market mondays.
I heart that Vintage chair. Beautiful work Em.

Emily, I absolutely LOVE this room! My vote...best one yet! I love all the rich woods and beautiful colors. This is definitely the direction I am starting (and want to continue) to take my home. Just got my first cow hide rug last weeked at a flea market and am in love. Can you please share a step by step on those gorgeous valences?! Wood type, stain, assembly. They don't look too hard, maybe something I could tackle myself (maybe not), just want to know the details and "secrets" before I attempt. Thanks for another beautiful room and plenty of fabulous design inspiration! Favorite show on HGTV!
love love love.purple is getting bigger so nice use. what about the rug? where is that from?
Cute little stump! And I love the map, so pretty! Have to look into getting me one of those.
I could tell right away that neither would like the first look (I've had customers like Amy before, I know the type) although I personally loved it except for the aubergine (but then again I've never liked aubergine anyway). Good call with replacing the white dining chairs, I'm glad you decided to change them out or I'm sure you would have heard "comments" from them about it. Anyway, I think you did a great job (although I'm not sure the negative vibes they put out jive very well with the feel-good quality of your show) and kudos for keeping a smile on your face throughout.
is there any kind of stain resistant furniture treatment you would recommend that i can use myself? I got 2 dining room chairs recovered and need to put something on them for when I spill spaghetti sauce all over them. thanks
I'm loving your show. Too bad Santa Barbara is not included in the "Los Angeles area" - I would so apply to be on the show. We need some help with our bedroom.
I am sorry they did not like the look; I think you did a fantastic job, though.
I had a question unrelated to styling or interior design. I loved your flower-printed blouse you wore in this episode. Where did you get it?
I'm looking for a bar cart similar to the one here (or to the one you used in Joy's living room) -- a mix of glass and metal, two shelved, small. Are these vintage, or are they new? All the vintage ones I've found at 1stdibs are sooo expensive!
Please, please, please share the paint color! I'm smitten!
-discount UGG Canvas Shoes I love that is traditional and romantic, but the color palette makes it modern and current.
